Wood Butter

from $32.50

Striking a careful balance between our Wood Oil and our Wood Wax, Wood Butter is a special blend of the two. It provides the penetration of natural polymerizing oils with a lighter, but still durable surface finish that leaves your wood protected.

Our Wood Butter strikes a balance between the penetration and deepening of color and grain that oil treatments typically deliver, and the long-lasting protective coating and finish you expect from a wax. Depending on the wood, butter will give you a more subtle look and surface sheen. And application is somewhere in between, which may be the key to unlocking the best of the unique grain or texture of a wood piece. Conditioning and protection in one product. All ingredients are natural, made from beeswax and plant based waxes and oils. May be used as a stand-alone treatment , or after-oil and before-wax in combination with other Elixir Wax products. Ideal for furniture and decorative woods.

Where to Use:

Furniture of all sorts, decorative and architectural woods, art frames, boxes, and more.

How to Use:

Mix before use. If using stand-alone or as initial treatment, prepare the surface by sanding with fine grit (220 – 400). Coarser grit enhances penetration. Finer grit leaves a smoother surface. Apply a generous coat of butter, covering the entire surface and applying additional product where the surface appears to be drying. After 2 to 4 hours, wipe away the excess and buff to a satin finish. Allow to dry. Repeat until desired number of coats and appearance is achieved. After your final coat, allow 24 - 48 hours for surface to become dry to touch. May take up to 1 week to be fully dry to touch and up to 4 weeks for full cure. Low temperature or high humidity can lengthen drying and curing times. If using after oil treatment, open the wood grain by lightly fine grit sanding or rubbing with abrasive pad.
