What kinds of chemicals are used in Elixir Wax products?

We only use all natural oils and waxes - meaning no petroleum products are ever used. Everything we create is made from beeswax and a blend of other plant-based oils and waxes.

How should I wash my cutting board after applying Butcher Block Butter?

It is best to hand wash finished cutting boards (or any other wooden utensils) with soap and warm water. Using a dishwasher is not suggested.

How much product do I need to get to complete a certain project?

Each wooden surface is very different. A lot depends on dryness and type of wood used and what grit it is sanded to. On average any of our products will cover 10-12 sq. ft. per ounce. Are your products food safe?

Our Butcher Block Butter is made entirely of food safe ingredients. All of the rest of our products contain certain oils that are considered food-safe once fully cured. So if you go through the entire suggested application process, all of our products are considered food-safe. To see our suggested application process check out our “How To” videos here.

Are your products tested on animals?

Absolutely not!! None of our products have ever been tested on animals.

How long do your products last?

Because our products are made out of all natural plant oils they do have a certain shelf life. For best results we suggest using our products within 18 months. Expiration dates are printed on everything we make. This expiration date can vary due to remaining quantity, contamination, storage temperature, and amount of air exposure.

Where are you located? Do you have a storefront?

We are proudly located in Boise Idaho! We don’t currently have a store front in town. We do sell our products at various stores around Boise and are able to offer in person pick up if you are located here in the Treasure Valley. If your products are all natural, why do they all have warning labels?

Out of an over abundance of caution we want to make sure all of our customers are using our products as safely as possible. Some of the natural oils we use can cause skin irritation or have risk of flammability- these ingredients are used in very minute amounts so these risks are incredibly low. However, we want to be completely transparent about these potential hazards to our customers.
